Albergo Suite Hotel Nettuno Review: Beachfront Gem in Sestri Levante
A review of Albergo Suite Hotel Nettuno, including the beachfront setting, easy family setup, and why it worked so well as a Sestri Levante base.
Room and setup
We booked a two-story suite with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the sea. The room had a classic feel — the hotel seems to have previously been a villa, and the layout reflects that with high ceilings, generous proportions, and a sense that the building has real history behind it.
The suite worked well for a family. The split-level layout gave adults and kids some natural separation without needing two full rooms, which is often the right solution for a shorter stay. The decor is traditional rather than modern, but everything was clean and comfortable, and the sea views from the upper level were the right way to wake up.
Beach access and location
The hotel sits right on the beach with direct access to the water. You can walk from your room to the sand in a few minutes, which is hard to beat with kids — no street crossing, no parking logistics, just out the door and onto the pebble beach.
We were there in the beginning of June and only a handful of people were at the beach during our stay, which gave it a private feel that you would not get in peak July or August. The town center is a short walk for restaurants and shops, and the train station is about five minutes away by car, making day trips along the Ligurian coast very manageable.
What worked and one thing to know
The serenity of the property was the strongest part of the stay. It has a pool and an on-site restaurant, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the whole hotel has a calm, unhurried pace that felt right for a Liguria trip.
One minor but real nitpick: the staff controlled the AC temperature centrally, which was frustrating when we wanted to sleep with it running cooler than the default setting. It is worth asking about when you check in so you know what to expect. It did not ruin the stay, but it was the one friction point in an otherwise easy experience.
For a Sestri Levante base, this is a genuinely strong option — especially if you want direct beach access and a property with some character rather than a standard chain hotel feel.
