Miami Guide (December 2024)
A December guys trip to Miami with an overnight LAX flight, a Fort Lauderdale Airbnb base we would not recommend, and a clear takeaway that the city itself was better than the logistics we chose.

Where we stayed and why we would change it
We stayed in an Airbnb in Fort Lauderdale and would not recommend doing that again. It worked for the Dolphins game, but as a base for the trip overall it was the wrong call.
The biggest lesson from the trip is that we would stay in Miami next time instead of Fort Lauderdale. Miami is where we wanted to spend our time, and the extra separation took away from that.
How the trip actually felt
This was a guys trip, and we flew overnight from LAX to Miami on the way out, which meant we started the trip pretty exhausted. On the way back we flew from Fort Lauderdale to LAX.
Miami itself was nice and felt very friendly. The December weather was amazing, the food was good, and the drinks were great. The highlights for us were South Beach, Little Havana, Brickell, and the Wynwood Arts District.
What we would do again
Fort Lauderdale was convenient for going to the Dolphins game, which was fun, though I still enjoy watching football on TV more than dealing with the full stadium experience.
Overall, we did not really have enough time and the trip made us want to come back with a better base. The city itself earned another shot; next time we would just stay in Miami proper.
