Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina Review
A review of Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina, including a two-night points stay, great family-friendly pools, easy trolley access, and the frustrating reality that parking and dining are both overpriced.

Booking and overall feel
We used points for this two-night stay, including one free night award, and overall thought it was a really nice hotel for a family-and-friends trip. The property feels polished, family friendly, and better suited to leisure travel than some large convention-style hotels do.
Location and access
The location near Gaslamp works really well, and taking the trolley around San Diego ended up being a great way to get around. That made it easy to enjoy the city without overthinking transportation.
What worked and what to watch for
The nicest surprise was how family friendly the hotel felt. The pools were especially nice, and the onsite restaurants were decent enough to keep things easy.
The downside is that both parking and dining felt overpriced. If you are not booking on points, it is worth trying to book an AAA rate for the parking discount.
Some of the trip highlights outside the hotel were Morning Glory for brunch, the farmers market, and Old Town San Diego for mariachi and dinner.
