Inside Sunset Marquis: The Rock-and-Roll Luxury Staycation in WeHo

This was a true staycation and we did not leave the hotel. Sunset Marquis was the entire point of the trip, and it delivered. We booked through Chase The Edit and were upgraded to a suite, which made the stay feel especially worth it.

The room was lovely — generous space, a real living area separate from the bedroom, and the kind of bathroom setup that makes you actually want to spend time getting ready rather than rushing through it. The suite felt like a proper apartment, not just a large hotel room.

Sunset Marquis has a real rock-and-roll identity that gives it a much more memorable feel than a generic luxury hotel. It is known for hosting musicians — there is a recording studio on-site — and that history comes through in the atmosphere without being overdone. It feels more like a private club than a hotel lobby.

The property is also physically tucked away from Sunset Boulevard, which gives it a sense of seclusion that most WeHo hotels cannot offer. You feel removed from the street noise while still being a five-minute walk from everything. For a staycation, that combination of privacy and location is hard to beat.

The onsite restaurant was solid for both dinner and breakfast, which made it even easier to stay put and treat the whole thing as an actual escape. We ate on-property for both meals and did not feel like we were missing out — that is a meaningful bar for a hotel restaurant to clear.

If the point of the trip is to check into a great room and disappear for a night or two, Sunset Marquis is a very good answer. It is a hotel that rewards the decision to just stay there rather than using it as a base for other things.
